RAF662 CFSG Code of Conduct

Postby RAF_DaddyO » Sun Jan 24, 2016 9:07 pm

RAF662 CFSG membership comes with significant responsibilities. Among those are the responsibility to abide by a code of online conduct. We expect our members to uphold high standards, and to hold each other and even our guests accountable to these standards. We always strive to make our online community a fun, open and welcoming experience for all.
The ease and anonymity which online communications affords us should not be taken for granted, nor is it any excuse for bad behavior. In fact, the opposite holds - we need to work extra hard to exhibit exemplary online behaviors and be consciously aware of how we are perceived online. This code applies equally to founders, members and even our guests.

This includes our own RAF662 site and forums, other groups online sites and forums, member email, the online voice Comms arena, and any online resources you use while representing the RAF662 CFSG. In addition, violations of this code outside these spaces as well may even affect a person's ability to participate within them.

Violations of this code will be taken under consideration by site/group moderators and the Air Council quickly, and may result in member warning, request for apology, suspension or even expulsion.

If you believe someone is violating the code of conduct, we ask that you report it by private forum mailing (PM) to one of the RAF_ officers, a member of the Air Council, or by emailing: nimrodd@verizon.net.

Member Expectations

- We ask that you proudly and honestly represent the RAF662 CFSG and its traditions, and that you interact with those you encounter online in a way which will bring credit upon you and our online team!

- We ask that members wear their RAF_ uniforms or that prospects wear their RAF_Cdt_ uniform tags for online gaming at all times in the genre that RAF662 supports.

- We ask that members try to put others first, before themselves! That you try to promote helping, answering questions, solving problems or just simply helping get others flying or driving first, before you spend time enjoying their own online time! This should be at the heart of what RAF662 CFSG is all about.

- We ask that non-members refrain from wearing RAF_ uniform tags.

- We ask, that active members of RAF662 CFSG not accept dual membership in another online simulator squadron while an active member.

- We ask that inactive members who do wish to leave, formally inform squadron officers of this in writing in a timely manner. However, there is no 'expiration' on an RAF662 membership. Once a member, always a member! If inactive, we hope you'll be active again soon, that you'll come back if you leave, or that we'll just see you online just the same...you're always welcome with us.

- We ask that current members make every effort to welcome and accept former members back online as well. Please, hold no grudges!

Member Behaviors

- We are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of level of experience, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, personal appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, nationality, or other similar characteristic.

- We will not tolerate using overtly sexual references or jokes, posting sexually explicitly materials or comments or other behaviors that might detract from a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all.

- Please be kind and courteous. There's no need to be mean or rude.

- Respect that people have differences of opinion and that every game, setting, tactic or online choice carries a trade-off and personal preference. There is seldom only one right answer.
Please keep unstructured critique to a minimum. Go the extra mile to see the other person's side of any issue, and when still not reconciled, then kindly agree to move on. Remember, this is only online gaming! It's for fun, so rise above problems, and if it isn't fun, take a break!

- Do not insult, demean or harass anyone. That is not acceptable behavior. In particular, we don't tolerate behavior that excludes people in socially marginalized groups.
Private harassment is also unacceptable. No matter who you are, if you feel you have been or are being harassed or made uncomfortable by a member, please contact one of the moderators or any of the administrators immediately. Whether you're a member or a guest, we care about making this community a safe place for you and we want you to come back!

- Predatory behaviors of any type are unacceptable, and will result in immediate expulsion. Also, attempting to impinge upon a member or guest's right to personal privacy and security online will also not be tolerated.

- Likewise spamming, trolling, flaming, hacking, baiting or other attention-stealing behavior is prohibited as well.

Moderation

These are the policies for upholding our community's standards of conduct in our communication channels, most notably in our online forums, website and online radio (Teamspeak or other Comms).

- Remarks that violate the code of conduct, including hateful, hurtful, oppressive, or exclusionary remarks, are not allowed.

- Cursing is frowned upon! Yes, it does happen, but we expect members to correct each other, and to understand that everyone does not always find it funny, useful or inclusionary. Learn to react and say useful things instead! Under no circumstances will it be tolerated if it is targeting another user, and never in a hateful manner.

- Remarks that moderators find inappropriate, whether listed in the code of conduct or not, are also not allowed. Moderators will first respond to such remarks with a warning.
If the warning is unheeded, the user will be "kicked," i.e., kicked out of the communication channel to cool off. If the user comes back and continues to make trouble, they may face being banned, i.e., indefinitely excluded. Moderators may choose at their discretion to un-ban the user if it was a first offense and they offer the offended party a genuine apology.
If a moderator bans someone and you think it was unjustified, please take it up with that moderator, or with a different moderator, in private. Complaints about bans in-channel are not allowed.

- Moderators are held to a higher standard than other community members. If a moderator creates an inappropriate situation, they should expect less leeway than others.

In the RAF662 CFSG community we strive to go the extra mile to look out for each other. Try to be your best self and an example to others. In particular, avoid flirting with offensive or sensitive issues, particularly if they're off-topic; this all too often leads to unnecessary fights, hurt feelings, and damaged trust; worse, it can drive people away from our group entirely.

We are all here first and foremost because we want to have fun online.
